D&D

I played D&D yesterday (Sunday). Fun fun! Man, it had been so long since I've played anything.

I have Kallista, a female tiefling warlock. She just got an implement and that is awesome!

Notice to Schedule

I received my notice to schedule for the CPA exams. What does that mean? That means that I've been approved. All I have left to do is pass the tests and apprentice under a CPA. Awesome!

School

So, I want to get my CPA. I have an accounting degree, but ...

It didn't give me 30 hours of accounting. So, I'm taking one last college class at Wake Tech called Business Income Tax. This is on Monday nights from now until the middle of December.

That wouldn't be so bad, but ...

I'm taking CPA review courses with Becker, too. They start tomorrow, Saturday.

I still don't have everything done with the CPA Board, though. I'm really stressing on that.

Drum and Bass

I've really come to enjoy drum and bass as my music of choice. DnB seems to be going through a big period of popularity with "outsiders" and I'm part of that, I admit. My coworker Rodney keeps introducing me to good stuff, but I've found that experimenting with certain DNB feeds has gotten me some cool DJs. Let me know if you're interested in my sources.

I like, currently, in no particular order:

John B
Pendulum (did you see that they made it into a mainstream cell phone commercial?)
Odi (ODI?)
TC and Jakes
Aaron Simpson
Ben Sage

I like to listen to Fabio's weekly show on BBC Radio 1 to keep up on artists.

Video Games

I've had to substitute video games for table top games since I can't make much time for them any more. I got Final Barbie Fantasy (FF X-2) and Kingdom Hearts II and I've played Barbie for a bit. I've also been trying to work my way through Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii but have been stuck on a boss for a while. It takes a while to work through it, and I don't always have the patience and time to put into it.

Work

I've been to a couple of interviews recently. I've been told that I have no real accounting experience for what I should be eligible for as an accountant. Basically, my job looks like an accounting position but really isn't. So, every day I spend at this job doesn't add anything to my resume. I'm okay with being patient with my job search.

However, the situation changed for me last week. When my puppy was put down late Sunday night, I called in the next morning. I got a call back and was told to come to work anyway.

Others have suffered far more grievously than I have, that's for sure. But, this really set me off. I don't have to be told I'm a good worker to feel respected. It helps, yeah, but things like this are a total anti-respect flag. What I'm trying to say is this: I didn't realize that respect was such a big issue with me until it was pushed into the mud and pissed on.

Anyone know any accounting roles open? I have a college degree and a great aptitude for learning new skills. Great with software!

Tinkerbelle

Claire and I had a beautiful female puppy named Tinkerbelle for a week. We had to put her down on the late evening/early morning of 08/10 - 08/11. I haven't resolved my sadness on this yet.
